The single biggest mistake brides make is leaving hair colour to the last minute. Beautiful wedding hair is planned over months, not days, because colour, condition and shape all need time to come together. As an artistic director who has prepped a lot of brides, here is the timeline I would give anyone getting married.
Six to twelve months out: the consultation
This is when we talk through your vision, your dress, and the look you want, and set a colour direction. Starting early means we can take your hair somewhere gradually and healthily, rather than risking a dramatic change too close to the day.
Around three months out: the trial and the colour plan
Book a hair trial so your stylist can test your wedding style, and lock in your colour schedule. If you are going lighter or correcting anything, this is the window to do the bulk of the work so your colour is settled and glossy by the big day.

The patch test, do not skip it
If any colour or toner is part of your prep, you will need a skin sensitivity test at least 48 hours before each colour service. We build this into the plan early so nothing is a surprise.
Two weeks before: the final touch
This is the sweet spot for your final colour or a freshening gloss and a trim, recent enough to look immaculate, with just enough time for everything to settle and for any tiny tweak. Fresh-from-the-salon colour on the actual morning is riskier than it sounds.
On the day
Whether you style at home or with us, hair that has been well looked after for months is what photographs beautifully. Glossed, conditioned, dimensional colour catches the light in every photo.
Frequently asked questions
How far in advance should I book bridal hair?
Have your first consultation six to twelve months ahead, your trial around three months out, and your final colour and trim about two weeks before the wedding.
Should I get a hair trial?
Yes. A trial confirms your style works and gives you total confidence on the day, with time to adjust if anything needs changing.
When should I do my final colour before the wedding?
Around two weeks before is ideal, fresh enough to look perfect but settled enough to avoid any last-minute surprises.
